Response: Arnold Schwarzenegger's Love Child

So the news broke yesterday and everyone including myself was surprised when former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, announced their separation last week after 25 years of marriage. It seems to come out of nowhere, But as the LA Times has revealed today, there’s a good explanation for it. The former governor had finally admitted to his soon to be ex-wife that he has fathered a child outside of their marriage (thank goodness it was not Pres. Obama). The child, who is now 10 years old was born to one of his staffers. Now how has been able to keep thus from his wife for so long has me dumbfounded. Now I'm really interested to see the fallout from this scandal. There are lot of things that the public can and will forgive, but i don't think cheating on your wife and fathering a child is one of them. Certainly not when it's such a high profile figure as Maria Shriver. I feel bad for the family and especially for the children that have to endure all this. I am curious how the media is going to cover this story though. The media has been very critical of athletes and entertainers fathering children outside of their marriage or cheating on their wives. Look at how long the Kobe Bryant story held the attention of the public. Now think about other politicians who have had sex scandals in recent years. Former President Bill Clinton, Former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Eliot Spitzer, and former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. I think that politicians are public figures that should be held to the same standard as any other person including celebrities. It does set a terrible example to the youth about the lack of faithfulness in today's marriage. I watched TV with my wife the other day it was a Law and Order: SVU Marathon one of our favorite shows. Each episode we watched shows some aspect of a unfaithful man that cheating on his wife or girlfriend. I have always said that women tend to be distrusting and suspicious of their men because they are surrounded with images or infidelity and cheating everyday. Pick up a magazine in you local grocery store, go to TMZ.com, or any other news network and I guarantee that this is some type of sex scandal as the top news story. (I know this breaks all type of man laws) But I'm beginning to understand why women feel that way. As men we do not want to lumped into the group of the untrusting and inappropriate. But the reality remains and it is constantly reinforced by people actions that many people in relationships are unfaithful. As men our society celebrates a huge ego and swagger you can smell coming through the door. So we adapt a me first mentality that will always find us in this very revealing predicament. What do you do to set yourself apart from the pact? I would love to divert some attention and use the age old argument that women cheat too, but they are better at not getting caught (had to throw that one in there). But this has nothing to do with women at all. As men, we have to make better decisions for ourselves and our families. We must conduct ourselves better if we are to truly assume the role as the head of our household. This is not so much about Arnold Schwarzenegger Celebrity and money are not excuses for compromising your values and integrity, if those where ever that night to begin with. Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger has played a terminator from the future, an undercover kindergarden cop teacher, and a do-gooder twin in the movies. In real life, he is another man that has embarrassed his family with true lies, went commando trying to be the last action hero.

Ladies, what does your partner do to make you feel special?

Either on a regular basis or on special occassions; what does your partner do to let you know you're appreciated or to make you feel special? If your mate doesn't do this, do you bring it to their attention?

What's inappropriate to you:

So I'm asking this question with the utmost sincerity and seriousness. In this new age of social media, facebook, twitter, ect. Where do you draw the line as it relates to allowing your significant other to communicate with people of the opposite sex. Conventional wisdom says that you are supposed to unfriend all ex-girlfriends from you fb page, but some people do not think like that. Does that include someone you just had sex with but never dated? How about someone who you kind of liked but never got around to? What about the casual friend that you were just classmates with. Is it okay to respond to their post, accept or invite them to friend you, to a comment on a photo or shout out that they may have left on your page? WTF is a poke anyway... We live in a different day and age, these questions may seem silly or foolish. But I think it's a real conversation that a serious couple should have. Especially if you are active on social networks. I really would like to hear you guys thoughts on this subject. In my opinion we are becoming a nation of overly sensitive insecure people. I understand that men and women have different ways of thinking and looking at things. I agree that some things are off limits. But where is the line, what's saying or doing too much?

Bring Martin Back....

There are no good black shows anymore. No shows that show black couples really loving each other. Martin never cheated on Gina..."you go boy". BET's The Game is ok but its more of the same. The portal of the unfaithful black man who cant keep it in his pants,  who cant make a decision or be a good husband boyfriend or whatever. Give me a show that shows the black man being a good provider, lover and listener. Does that not make for good TV these days?  Oh well, at least we have reruns...

Thanks to my husband for being that man for me  ........

This was a year of learning and growing for the both of us. So I was wondering, are there any couples who can give us advice on how they learn to move pass issues that may arise? Congrats to Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon......Bring on the Babies....

How many people thought Mariah Carey and Nick Canon would make it to see 4 years of marriage? I am happy they are doing well and congrats to them on the new babies. Some people are speculating that they used fertility treatments to conceive. My husband and I are trying to have a baby within the next year. What is the best way to do this without any treatments?

April 23, 2011 - "What is happiness to you David".......

"What is happiness to you David"..are the words Cameron Diaz said to Tom Cruise in the 2001 movie Vanilla Sky. When I watched the movie 10 yrs ago I thought to myself what a stupid questions..I thought that is the easiest question in the world to answer and I could answer it easily back then. Now at the age of 30 soon to be 31..the question is not so farfetched What is happiest...u go most of your young life chasing what you believe to be happiest, but when does the chase end..when are you ever content for more than a day? Does the ability to be happy fade with age? In my quest for knowledge, I pose the question to you, what is happiest to you readers....

April 23, 2011 - The way it is...

So my wife and I are about to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary in about a month. It got me to thinking about the past year and everything that we've been through. It seems like everything was against us from the beginning, but standing here now I feel like everything has went according to some plan, just don't know whos's plan that was. I didn't see it coming at all but I'm glad we are together. We have our favorite shows on tv, she likes the housewives of anywhere and baby shows. I more of a sports and law and order type of guy myself. One thing that we do agree on is that the way marriage is shown on Tv, movies, and often in your own upbringing is not exactly what u will experience own your own life. So we are using this blog as a way to share our experiences with other people and reflect on our own. This is going to be a true no holds barred account of the things that go on day to day between my wife and I. We do not have any children yet, but we have begun to work on that. This gives us a chance to spend more time getting to know each other, travel, and getting used to being a married couple. (you may not realize or understand that you have to ge used to being married and it takes time). This past year has been great to me, but I know that I have a lot more growing to do and i have to do more to understanding the needs of my wife better. As a man this is a ever changing set of feelings and emotions that you have to embark on when u enter into a marriage. It's like takin a trip but not knowing what the weather is going to be. So you prepare for what u think it will be, not knowing until you get there what exactly it will be. But you make the best of it regardless, if its hot and sunny than you can spend that time basking in the sun by the pool. If it's snowing then we bundle up, grab the skis and hit the slopes or make snow angles in the yard. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter if that's where you want to be. In a way I equate that how to deal with your woman and the unknown emotions that you may encounter. Through this we will take a long hard look at our past year and reflect as we come into our anniversary and beyond.
